On Sale at Yoox: Belvest Suits for $468 (Reg. ~$3,000!)
Gotta say, I’m a bit stunned by this find.
I was browsing my Yoox search for high-end suits (I’m in the market for a new go-to navy suit) and came across a handful from the high-end Italian manufacturer Belvest. They’re in staple colors (navy and charcoal), interview-ready fabrics (solid and subtle stripes in wool and wool/cashmere/elastane blends), and trend-resistant jacket styles: medium lapels, high notch lapel gorge, side vents, flapped or jetted pockets, and 2 or 3-roll-2 buttoning. You can even see Belvest’s signature lightly-constructed, slim silhouettes in spite of Yoox’s notoriously terrible styling.
These suits are the definition of staple, office-ready, foundational wardrobe pieces, and carry with them Belvest’s reputation for stellar quality: their jackets feature full or half-canvas construction and copious handwork. Belvest manufactures suits for Hermes and Prada, and on the men’s style forums are frequently compared to very high-end Italian labels like Isaia, Zegna, and Corneliani. The consensus: Belvest’s quality generally beats out Corneliani, tops most of Zegna’s offerings, and comes in a hair under Isaia.
Belvest suits regularly retail for around $3,000. You can catch them on Gilt for around $2,000. If you check old threads on the various men’s style forums, you’ll see people very happy about picking up Belvest suits for $900. So it’s positively mind-boggling that Yoox has priced these at just $468.
I have to admit, this price point seems too good to be true, and my first suspicion was that these might be from a lower-end diffusion line. Browsing the forums, though, it appears Belvest has three labels—white, black, and blue—and all three would be a steal at $468.
So I decided to pick one up for myself for an in-person assessment. Hopefully will have more on that when it arrives in a few weeks, but until then, here are the links to the suits again.
