On Sale at Charles Tyrwhitt: Moleskin Trousers, $64 Shipped
This past fall and winter, I looked in vain for an affordable pair of moleskin trousers to wear on cold, windy mornings. Most moleskins retail well above $100, and the ones that don’t are usually of the 5-pocket, jean-style variety, rather than the more formal trousers I was looking for. I’m sure I wasn’t the only person who was looking out for pants like that, as Lands’ End’s version quickly sold out in most sizes.
So of course it’s now we have this offer from Charles Tyrwhitt—well into spring, with Northern California temperatures already crossing the 80-degree mark. I’ve actually kept an eye on these moleskins for some time—drawn by the extended tab closure and variety of colorways—but hesitated at the original $99 sale price. I’ve also had trouble finding definitive information on the fit of Tyrwhitt’s classic fit trousers. Online reviews and one post on Ask Andy About Clothes suggest they run a bit small—but I’d interpret that as “true to size.” In spite of my uncertainty and hesitation, I was tempted to give it a go anyways, only to find my size sold out.
Well, Tyrwhitt has not only restocked the trousers, they’ve also sweetened the deal, dropping the sale price to $69. Through the 28th, they’re also offering free shipping on orders over $75 and 7% off with promo code RETMN7. Since return shipping is free, that means you can pick up two sizes to try on, and return whichever doesn’t work out.
That deal is too compelling for me not to try out, so I’m in on two pairs of the tan moleskins.
