What I Wore Today
Today’s Sartorial Muse is George Cortina, from this much-reblogged shot by Scott Schuman.
American Optical Sunglasses - $49.99 at Amazon
Heritage Poplin in True Navy - $39.50 at Lands’ End Canvas
Wait for these to go on sale; pretty sure I got mine for around $17.
Milano Plain-Front Washed Chinos - Brooks Brothers
Now out of stock, these retailed for $59.50, but I picked them up for $24 in November. Great lightweight cotton that’s all wrinkled up like Cortina’s pants above. Mine are hemmed to no break; Cortina’s cropped trousers are a little too extreme for me. Key takeaway: buy off-season at Brooks Brothers. Their A/W Milano chinos are now going for $35.
Maldini Double Monks - YOOX
Cortina’s choice of black shoes is interesting, since Italians are well-known for their affinity for light brown in the summer.
I’m also wearing a red-brown web belt with a gold buckle that happens to match the Maldinis. In retrospect, I prefer Cortina’s choice of a white web belt, which lengthens his frame instead of introducing a horizontal line.
