Anonymous asked: I must say ever since running into your blog I've been addicted. Besides Thesilentist can you recommend some other blogs that I should follow that offer similar to what you are doing?
Anonymous asked: Mind telling us your google reader list? Would love to know what you follow. I want to put together a feed aswell.
everythingyouaskme asked: What kind of profession do you have?
Anonymous asked: If I'm black should I avoid wearing shoes that are the same shade of brown as my skin? There's just something weird about it.
Anonymous asked: Appreciate your work on the blog. Do you know where I can find a quality grey crew-neck sweater. Similar to maybe the Riviera Club Kirkwood Crewneck Sweatshirt? Thanks for your help!
brysonholland asked: Is it against any rule or custom to wear a suit's jacket with odd trousers, rather than as the suit? Or to wear a suit's trousers with some other sport coat or blazer?
What we call ‘street style’ is not actually that at all these days....
– Esquire - Why ‘Street Style’ is Ruining Your Style
While I sympathize with the sentiment, I also think WIWT bloggers—regular guys who don’t fly out to Pitti Uomo or get NYFW invites—are the counterpoint to the “death” of street style.

8bitian replied to your post: Would it ever be okay to not wear a blazer to a job interview (ie. substitute said blazer with a cardigan or v-neck)? How about not wearing a tie? Thanks
Really depends on the workplace. For a tech/creative company it might be wholly inappropriate to come in wearing a blazer.
You know, I thought about that as a possible exception, but I think for a first interview...
Anonymous asked: In your opinion, what the the most versatile color for a suit?

Anonymous asked: Is there a good basic white cotton dress shirt around $50-60? Looking to upgrade from my current $30 Macy's-brand 'slim fit' shirt, but tripling up to $90+ for Brooks Brothers et al. is hard to imagine as a PhD student. If $90 is the price point I may just go to Ratio or blank label and get them custom.
Anonymous asked: Have you got any suggestions for a pair of canvas sneakers to wear around the house on weekends? I like the style of the Vans Rata or Lacoste Chute but feel they may be too childish.
Anonymous asked: You mentioned that Rockport and Cole Haan aren't recommended for well made shoes anymore- what are some high quality brands on the low end of prices (below $200)?
Anonymous asked: I am planning to get a pair of tobacco suede oxfords (Crockett and Jones Westfield). What kind of belt would you pair with this - something in a similar suede or something else entirely?
Anonymous asked: I'm visiting a friend in Bruxelles next week. I thought I might take some time shopping while I'm there. Ever been? If so, do you have any recommendations. If you haven't, maybe some of your readers do?
Anonymous asked: On the hunt for soporific scarves, I found MUJI has some 100% wool, 12"x70" scarves on sale right now, ~$21 shipped. Navy, light grey, beige, and black. Mine just arrived, and it's soft with a nice weight. Cheers!
nochromeonethewheels asked: So I jumped on the Rue La La deal for the BB Fitz suit that you linked a couple weeks back. They were out of my size, so I clicked "I still want it". couple days later, they sent me an email saying the found one. Just showed up today. Its the best $500 I've spent. Love the fabric/fit. Also going to get a SuitSupply to compare (its for my wedding in October), but wanted to thank you...

Try Black Fleece by Brooks Brothers. Their size 0 may be perfect. And its all on sale right now. Also, a 36s Phineas Cole coat runs smaller than most, but can be a bit pricey.
That’s a fantastic suggestion.

girouxmcisaak replied to your post: Trying to find a basic mid-gray suit and a few blazers, but I’m impossible to fit: 35” chest, 5’8”, 135 lbs. J. Crew’s 36S is a bit too big in the shoulders. Suit Supply goes down to 35R but it feels even bigger in the shoulders than J. Crew. Likewise for H&M’s 36S. Any suggestions for an off-the-rack solution, or is M2M/bespoke the only way I’m going to...
Anonymous asked: My brother recently asked me for advice on an interview outfit. I gave him some suggestions and one of them involved a blazer, and he replied that he's "not really a fan of blazers-too tall and lanky." (I am fairly certain that is not a thing. That's like not being a fan of shirts, right?) But I was wondering if you had any advice for blazers that might suit such a frame?
Anonymous asked: Do you know where I could find some cheapish loafers like the Charles Phillip Scottish Tweed Rio Loafer? With or without tassels.
Anonymous asked: I noticed lots of conversation about the ISAIA NAPOLI CORAL LAPEL PIN available on eBay... I like the pop or color but could care less about a brand name - any suggestions on a good color lapel pin that looks good for a fair price that you think most men could pull off.
Anonymous asked: I'm about to pull the trigger on a navy suit in the $600-700 range. I'm down to either one of Suit Supply's top "Suit Up" line or a Hickey suit on sale at Bluefly and my Nordstrom's for $699. I'm favoring the Hickey (tried it on and verified nice fit) but am concerned about the "Loro Piana Tasmanian Super 150's wool". The interwebs suggests that...

Anonymous asked: Hello, could you please refer me to some natural waist trousers, budget up to $150 a pair? Any help is appreciated. And how does one measure the rise?
Anonymous asked: To the anon who blasted high(er) rise pants as being unflattering and uncomfortable - talk about hubris. Those aspects are totally subjective, some guys are taller and need the rise just to stay in proportion. As to specefic recs, bb sells some Fitzgerald fit in odd trousers. You can also find a good rise and have the legs tapered by the tailor.
45paperplates asked: re: College dress I think we stress basics a bit too much. If we’re talking about curating a personal style, college is the easiest time to do it. As an adult, I have to dress well for work etc. In college, you have four years where the only people you have to impress are other college students. While the OCBD/denim look is fine, there is no easier way to look boring to other twenty year...
Anonymous asked: On the topic of shoes: could you please recommend a sub-$200 Derby or Oxford that has great support for someone doing a lot of standing and walking at work? As a corollary, would someone do well to invest in a better constructed--albeit more expensive--shoe, presuming that these shoes may have better support? Do construction and material only go so far - making for great looking shoes that are...

So friends invited my wife and I to a...
Sounds like fun, and the invite encouraged us to “dress French.”
Not sure what that means.
Assuming I want to invest little to no money in this, should I try to reproduce my favorite look from AMI’s F/W lookbook, or just buy a red watch cap and call it a day?
Ideas, followers?
